What 2020 Taught Me

When 2020 started, I was 8 months pregnant with Oliver and more than ready to settle into a maternity leave filled with baby cuddles with family as we all swooned over this new squishy little human.

Oliver was born 3 weeks before we were all sent into quarantine. He had one family outing at my parents for the my brother and sisters birthday dinner before we were house bound with no where to go! I remember thinking “What was I going to do?” New baby. No family support. A business. Postpartum limitations. I allowed myself for that brief moment to panic and mourn the loss of what I had planned as a new mother to do with my new baby… I decided to embrace the change and have a crazy amount of joy for it!

This year was a wild one but for me this year was life changing. As I reflect on all the 365 days I am grateful for the tub lined with foam letters & numbers. For the loss of personal space. Grateful for the toys sprawled out and the yogurt smeared across the table. Grateful for the sounds of babbling & giggles that echo through my home. Grateful for comfort.

Thankful for technology that allowed my call log to be packed with long video chats to family for check ins, story times, and celebrations. That allowed me to continue on the tradition of our internship program - in the height of uncertain times. That I was able to capture & share images to family 3 miles away to 500 miles away

I am thankful for the time I gained this year to be present. Present in motherhood, present in business, present in partnerships and most importantly present in self awareness. Time has allowed me realign my passions, commit to mental wellness, and pivot my priorities.

Joy is how I feel as I reflect on 2020. This year brought me a lot of joy. I know it’s so easy to reflect on 2020 and say this was a dumpster of a year but small moments count!

Thank you for continuing to be apart of my journey as I have pivoted into motherhood! Motherhood and business ownership balance is no easy task so I hope you continue to follow my journey as I gracefully trip into finding my footing!
