Brand Values Are A Beacon For Your Business
The foundation of great branding is choosing intentional elements that match who you are as a business. You want your brand values to be the guiding beacon that your business looks too. You don’t want to follow the trends in your market of your industry. The goal of great brand values is to remain authentic across all touchpoints. Intentional branding is standing out and standing strong in your values. Your values should inspire you & your business!
The question is how do you go about choosing the correct brand values for your company?
Ask yourself these questions.
- What do you want to be known for?
- What do you want your clients to value about you?
- What separates you from the crowd?
The values you choose and the way you communicate those values will be the differentiating factor for you in comparison to other businesses! We want to create values that will wow your ideal client into working with you! Choosing the correct words that will communicate and inspire your business’s growth is actually very hard. Sometimes we find words that may fit but then we lose the clarity of your vision!
Make it easy for clients to pick you:
Be different, be out of the box different! Let’s use a scenario of an event planner. You can communicate to your future client that you are Professional, Organized, and Timely. As an event planner, your clients will expect you to be all three of those. We expect you to be Professional, Organized, & Efficient without communicating them. So if we, as consumers already have made up our mind that you should all 3 of those off the bat then you have lost your leverage to WOW!
Let’s say you are a wedding event planner.
You will most likely hold values such as
Romantic + Whimsical + Elegant
Close to the heart of who your business is. One of those will be an anchor to your vision. You will pick one and then combine it with two other words that are representative of your vision. Pick 2 emotive words that spark a different reaction then your anchor word.
But Instead you would try these
Whimsical + Outdoorsy + Heartfelt
As a client, I would understand that you plan whimsical outdoors weddings and that you hold each project close to your heart. If I was looking to have an outdoor wedding that gave off whimsical vibes, I would go to a wedding planner that believed that each wedding should be heartfelt. After all, this would be my big day!
What importance do you want your clients/customers to take away from working with you?
How will you determine your business success in non-monetary nature?
What do you want to get out of your career? Will this benefit your business? If so, how?
How are your values different from competitors? Is this a selling point?
